Creating a New Class

This article will walk you through the process of creating a new class. Not all customers will have this ability because classes and rosters will be imported from an external source. (such as; Clever or ClassLink)

From the dashboard page, click on the Create Course tile. 



Once you click on the Create Class tile, a pop-up will appear with the create class form:

  1. Name (required): This is the main identifier of the class. Enter a short but descriptive name that is easily identifiable for this class.
  2. Description: You can provide some additional details about the class.
  3. Grade: Enter the grade level for the class.
  4. Subject: Select a subject that best represent the new class.
  5. Section: If there is a section associated with the class, enter it here.
  6. Location: If there is a location associated with the class, enter it here.
  7. School: Most users will have this pre-filled and it is not changeable. Some users will be associated to multiple schools and can select the school for the new class.
  8. Tags: Create a few tags to help searching and filter for this class.
  9. Theme: Select a color theme for the class. If one is not selected, a random color scheme will be assigned.
  10. Click on the Save button.


Once the class is created, you will be redirected to a view with all your active classes. You can filter for a class using the left side filter menu, or you can look at all the class actions by clicking on the cogwheel. If you want to add a student to the class, click on the Student List option in the dropdown menu.



If you want to add students to the class, give students the quick access code located in the left sidebar of the class view. One thing to note, this access code can be used for both students and non-student users. If a non-student user uses the access code, they will be added to the class as a co-teacher.

You can give a student the access code itself. Or you can copy and paste the invite URL that will send students directly to the confirmation window once they log into Classify Learning.



Helping a Student Join a Class

When a student logs into Classify Learning, they should click the Quick Join tile on the landing page.



After clicking on the quick join tile, a pop-up window will appear for the student to interact with:

  1. Type in or paste in the Access Code.
  2. Click on the Join button.


Once the student enters in the access code, a confirmation window will appear with the details of the class. Once the student confirms the information on the screen, the student can click the Confirm button. After the student clicks the confirm button, they will automatically be enrolled into the class and will be able to view the details of the class.
